Upcoming: Escalation Time

Runs November 7th-23rd, at Studio 17. Tickets + Info here.

Escalation Time is about Zev (Scott Shepherd) and Kate (Francesca Root-Dodson), two married professors at Columbia University who always assumed they shared the same ethical framework. After the events of October 7, the couple unexpectedly finds themselves on opposite sides of the conflict. As each becomes involved in their respective campus protest movements, their disagreement threatens to engulf them—with devastating consequences. Escalation Time examines if it is possible for a marriage, or any relationship, to survive a conflict where the stakes are so high, and moral paradigms so starkly opposed.

The production team includes line producer Sage Kirwan, sets by Bridget Lindsey, costumes by Victoria Cronin, sound by Steve Barroga, and lights by Eric Nightengale. Stage Management by Shier Benhamou, fight direction by Simon Kiser, production coordination by Victoria Provost and production assistance by Alexis Grusby, Tiara Partsch and Dany Powers. Poster design by Lily Nguyen.

Talking With Angels

Talking With Angels: Budapest, 1943 was Sage’s theatrical debut as a producer.

This one-woman show tells a true story of divine guidance during one of history’s darkest hours. In 1943 Hungary, Gitta Mallasz defied the horrors of the Holocaust by posing as a Nazi officer and sheltering her friends, along with scores of Jewish women and children working in a military factory.

As they faced the uncertainties of deportation and war, one of them began speaking in a voice that was not her own. These channeled messages were transcribed into journals, later published by Gitta—the sole survivor—as the book Talking with Angels.

In this richly immersive piece, audiences are guided through the stark historical reality of 1940’s Hungary and the ephemeral teachings of an existence beyond ours. Adapted and performed by Shelley Mitchell, dramaturgy by Amy Marie Seidel (Here There Are Blueberries, Paradise Square), directed by Molly Shayna Cohen, lighting design by Bentley Heydt and Molly Tiede.
